St. Xavier’s Convent School commemorated Kargil Vijay Diwas with profound patriotism and reverence, paying homage to the courage, sacrifice and unwavering commitment of the Indian Armed Forces who secured victory during the Kargil War in 1999 through Operation Vijay. The observance served as a heartfelt tribute to the brave soldiers whose extraordinary valour continues to inspire the nation.
The programme was graced by the presence of Dr. Arjumand Zaidi, Director, who joined students and staff in honouring the martyrs of the Kargil War. The event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by the singing of the National Anthem and a special prayer dedicated to the brave soldiers who laid down their lives in the service of the nation.
A solemn special assembly was organised to mark the occasion, where students presented inspiring speeches, patriotic songs, poems and heartfelt tributes highlighting the courage, determination and selfless service of the Kargil heroes. The school campus echoed with the spirit of patriotism as students reflected on the significance of the historic victory and the sacrifices made to safeguard India’s sovereignty.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Arjumand Zaidi urged students to draw inspiration from the indomitable spirit, discipline and selfless dedication of the armed forces. Emphasising the values of courage, unity, integrity and national pride, Dr. Zaidi encouraged students to become responsible, compassionate and dedicated citizens committed to serving the nation in their own capacities.
To further deepen students’ understanding of the importance of Kargil Vijay Diwas, the school organised a series of engaging activities, including poster-making, slogan-writing, quiz competitions, patriotic performances, a moving skit and a fancy dress competition for primary students based on the theme of freedom fighters and the Indian Army. The enthusiastic participation and creative presentations reflected the students’ immense respect and gratitude towards the brave soldiers who continue to protect the nation’s borders.
The programme concluded with a solemn pledge by students and staff to uphold the ideals of national unity, integrity and selfless service.
